Glycol refers to a class of chemical compounds that contain two hydroxyl groups (-OH). They are commonly used in a variety of industries due to their ability to retain moisture, act as solvents, and reduce freezing points.

There are different types of glycols, but the two most common are:

1. Ethylene Glycol (EG):

   • Chemical Formula: C₂H₆O₂
   • Uses: Ethylene glycol is most often used as antifreeze in cooling systems, such as in automobiles, and in the production of polyester fibers and resins. It’s also found in hydraulic fluids and as a solvent in some products.
   • Properties: It's a colorless, odorless, sweet-tasting liquid with a high boiling point and low freezing point. Ethylene glycol is toxic if ingested, so caution is required when handling it.

2. Propylene Glycol (PG):

   • Chemical Formula: C₃H₈O₂
   • Uses: Propylene glycol is commonly used in food and pharmaceuticals as a humectant (moisture-retaining agent), in cosmetics, and in the production of
