“PIB-1300” (sometimes called Polyibutene 1300) is a medium-molecular-weight grade of polyisobutylene. It’s a viscous, non-volatile, non-drying synthetic polymer used in many industrial applications. ✅ Common Applications of PIB-1300

PIB-1300 is used because of its stability, tackiness, and compatibility with many other materials. Some of its uses include:

  • Lubricants & Greases: as a thickener, viscosity modifier, or additive for enhanced stability.

  • Adhesives & Sealants: tackifier, to improve adhesion and flexibility.

  • Oil Additives / Dispersants: in engine oils, fuel detergents, etcCosmetics & Personal Care: used as film formers, gloss agents, and to improve texture / application of creams, lip glosses etc.

  • Hydraulic / Gear Oils, Metal Working Fluids: helps in viscosity indexing, reducing oil evaporation & improving service life.

  • Sealant / Coating / Rubber applications, where flexibility, adhesion, and weather resistance are required.

⚙️ Advantages & Limitations

Advantages:

  • Very good thermal and oxidative stability.

  • Resistant to moisture, non-volatile (won’t evaporate under normal conditions).

  • Compatible with many additives and base oils. Good shear stability.

Limitations:

  • Being synthetic polymer, its cost is higher than some simpler oils / resins.

  • Pour point is modest (can get stiff / viscous at lower temps).

  • Needs correct handling (avoid high heat, contamination).

 What is PIB-950
  • PIB-950 is a grade of polyisobutylene (PIB) — a viscous, synthetic polymer.

  • “950” refers roughly to its molecular weight/viscosity class. It’s a mid-/moderate weight PIB, not very low, not extremely high.

  • It’s a non-drying, non-volatile, hydrophobic liquid polymer. Chemically stable, inert to many chemicals, with good resistance to oxidation, UV, aging
